Our Vision and Values
St Nicholas CE Primary School Vision, Values and School Prayer
Laying firm foundations to believe and achieve
through our values of
Respect, Honesty, Courage and Kindness
Through our vision and values, at St Nicholas CE Primary School we are committed to ensuring that we provide a safe, stimulating and caring environment where children can develop and thrive. We aim to provide the foundations which will enable them to hold the tools to be successful in their future years and develop an understanding of the importance of kindness and a lifelong love of learning.
Our links with St Nicholas Church, Hurst, enable us to embrace and uphold our Christian traditions and beliefs. Through promoting respect and tolerance for other beliefs within Collective Worship and our Curriculum, we celebrate all major religions and festivals.
St Nicholas is a Church of England Primary School within the Oxford Diocese and part of The Keys Academy Trust.
OUR SCHOOL VISION
“Laying firm foundations to believe and achieve”
Matthew 7 24-25 ‘everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock’
We believe that we are preparing our children for years beyond their schooling. Our children’s years at St Nicholas are forming a foundation on which they build their future education and future lives. We are mindful that the experiences which we offer will help shape the adults that they will become.
During their time with us, we aim to offer a curriculum which is broad, rich and balanced; one which shapes the whole child.
Our Christian Values
Our values are our underlying principles, celebrating each and every one who is unique and special.
Our Christian values identify us as a community and underpin our ethos and culture we strive to promote. The four values were carefully chosen by our school community so that everyone understands the purpose and meaning of each. Our individual and collective worship is committed to upholding these principles.
Through living out our values, we help each other flourish as individuals and as a community as well as the world in which we live.
These values are referred to in class and are included within our termly collective worship themes.

OUR SCHOOL PRAYER
Our school prayer, collectively written by our children, includes our four values
Dear God,
Help me to be kind in all I do
To share hope and joy through and through.
To be honest and let no one deter me,
As I find my way on our learning journey.
And give me strength and courage
As each day I grow wiser and flourish.
Let love and respect lead the way,
With your shining light, with thanks, we pray.
Amen
Spirituality at St Nicholas:
What is Spirituality?
As a school, we believe that Spirituality is not something that we can see; it is something that we feel inside. It is about inspiration, reflection, awe and wonder. Spirituality is asking thoughtful questions and being aware of something bigger than ourselves.
At St Nicholas CE Primary School, we cherish spirituality guided by our core values
Respect: We honour the worth and dignity of every individual, fostering inclusivity and empathy.
Honesty: We prioritise truthfulness and integrity, building trust and authenticity.
Courage: We encourage bravery in facing challenges and pursuing growth.
Kindness: We practice compassion and generosity, nurturing a supportive community.
Through these values, we cultivate spirituality, empowering individuals to thrive and contribute positively to our world.
